Can Muslims understand common sense?

I am in total agreement on the principle that any person who is wronged should defend himself by all means while trying to redress the injustice he is suffering. I also subscribe to the principle that anyone who is part of a conflict must use all means to secure his survival. Being the aggressor or the victim has nothing to do with such rights once you are in an international conflict because even the aggressor feels he has the right to attack in order to defend his interests or to take pre-emptive measures for the same reason.

Consequently, both parts of a conflict must accept that the opponent has the right to defend his interests. That is the historical fact of life.

Media coverage of events is always used by both conflicting parties under what is known as “Psychological Warfare” in order to gather – each in his ranks – the backing of the “outside” world community, by influencing its moral view of the conflict so that political or economic advantage can be obtained.

Again: Both conflicting parties have the right to conduct warfare on all fronts against each other.

Now let us look at this particular case where the international media seems, in the eyes of the Muslim world (which is a definite and present party to the conflict with the Western powers including Israel), as being biased towards the West or Israel against Muslims and Palestinians.

Here is the BIG crux: A criminal act, be it suicide bombing, incest, civilian murder and similar is always considered by the media (Western or not) to be an act of “normal” criminal, political or warfare activities by “normal” people in a “normal” conflict. The perpetrators here have based their acts on long accepted criminal backgrounds. What is NOT accepted is that the perpetrators base their criminal acts on religious grounds, in that case: Islam. Ideological and religious killings are not accepted today by the world community. It is always mentioned that a Hindu has killed a Muslim in India or a Catholic has killed a Protestant in Northern Ireland. That is a fact. But while a Tamil killing is designated as political, a disturbed father’s incest or a mother killing her children is not designated as religiously related but as a case of social dysfunction.

Muslims commits criminal acts based on religious grounds even in the case of the incestuous parent.

Regarding reporting on the Palestinian suicide bombing cases, only Israeli media mention “Islamic” terrorism because they never utter the world “Palestinians”. That is their political prerogative and is part of their psychological warfare. Israel is an opponent having the right to defend his interest. The pictures in that section are just a depiction of wailing.

We have to respect the West for being able to expose its failings. Muslims are in dire need to achieve that ability.

So STOP wailing and START acting. You are in a WAR and have to behave like a worthy adversary to your enemy. So far “crying” has not helped Muslims in any way. Just as the antiquated policies of the Palestinians have not helped their case for over 60 full years, real change in the strategies, tactics and political synthesis must be introduced in the Muslim nation in order to achieve some success. You have been banging your head against a brick wall for 60 years and the wall never budged. Don’t you think it is time to change your policies, your strategies, your thoughts, your management structure, your political and military foundations? Wailing did not help. Suicide bombings did not help. Increased symbolic religiosity did not help. Salafism did not help, Sharia did not help. Choosing Fatah did not help. Choosing Hamas did not help. Katyushas did not help. Begging for aid from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the EU and the UN did not help. Showing pictures of sufferings did not help.

I do not know what exactly you, dear Palestinians, or the rest of the Muslim world, should do but you MUST definitely stop doing what you have been doing for 60 years, as it did not achieve for you one single step of progress towards what you want. That is common sense.

Please don’t kill the messenger, as it will only prove my point.
